Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

WOW! What a year it has been for us at The Cupcake Wrapper Co.
Since launching our product in October this year, it has been go, go,go.
And we have loved every minute of it!
There are lots of new & fantastic opportunities happening next year.
We just cant wait to share them all with you!
2010 will bring many exciting times.

So how do you celebrate the new year?
Here is what will happen at our HQ tonight.

We will contemplate the year over a few quiet champers.
We will try to cool down after this heat.
We will enjoy a yummy bbq dinner.
We will also enjoy a refreshing Cosmpolitan (or two, or three)
We will stop the dog from eating all the nibblies.
We will try not to yell at the kids too much ("stop fighting!")
We will try to put off all the packing up of Christmas
decorations we still have to do.
We will talk about getting fit.
We will cringe as Richard Wilkins hosts the tv festivities.
We will admire Bert's new rug.
We will light lots of sparklers for the kids.
We will most likely go to bed before midnight.
We will wake up to 2010!

I love the story behind Eternity - that word that used to mysteriously appear in yellow chalk on Sydney streets in the early part of last century.
I also loved seeing it over the Harbour Bridge during the millenium celebrations.
So as we end this decade I thought it fitting we admire it again.

Have a fabulous new year celebration - no matter what you are doing.

See in you in 2010!

Getting into the Christmas spirit - literally!

Due to popular demand from our gorgeous tweeps here are the recipes
for our festive favorites

Shortbread
&
Eggnog

SHORTBREAD

2 cups of plain flour
2/3 cup of caster sugar
2 teaspoons of riceflour
250 grams of butter
Put all ingredients into food processor and whizz till mix resembles breadcrumbs.
Best if butter is not too cold.
This makes it easier to shape your shortbread without it being too crumbly.
Shape into balls and squish a bit.
For festive touch, add silver balls or other cake/cookie decorations that can go in the oven.

Put in 160 degrees oven for about 12 - 15 minutes.

EGGNOG

6 eggs - separated
185gr caster sugar
165ml rum
300ml brandy
600ml cream
600ml milk
nutmeg to sprinkle

Mix sugar and egg yolks till creamy, thick & pale.
Add rum & brandy - beat in well.
Whisk in milk & cream.
Whip egg whites until stiff.
Fold milk mix into stiff whites.
It will be lumpy.
Best stores in a glass jar.
Serve with a sprinkle of nutmeg.

We have this every Christmas Eve while we wrap all the pressies
and listen to
Carols By Candlelight.
Love it!

Guaranteed not to last long!

The Cupcake Wrapper HQ is brimming with all things Christmassy!
We just love decking the halls and getting into the Christmas spirit.

There is tinsel, baubles, vintage decorations, real Christmas trees, vintage feather Christmas trees, vintage paper honeycomb angels, candles, vintage ornaments, buntings, vintage tablecloths as well as all the decorations all of our kids have made over the years, as well as a myriad of other festive goodies all around!
If the cat sat still for long enough we would put antlers on him too!

We Heart Gigi and Lulu!

Today we wanted to send a big thank you and shout out to our friend
Prue from Gigi & Lulu.

Prue has been such a fantastic person to have helping us as
we have launched our dream of
The Cupcake Wrapper Co.

We actually stumbled across Prue's work while surfing the web at
Little Bird Photography
After a few emails, then lots of meetings (and coffees!) it all resulted in Prue doing our artwork for our wrappers and also assisted with the branding of our company too.
Not only that but she also continually gives us wonderful
'pearls' along the way that seem to always be of benefit for
The Cupcake Wrapper Co.
Some of these pearls....
"You just have to join Twitter...trust me"
"Skout Trade Fair is an amazing, supportive community to be a part of"

It has been fabulous having Prue along for our journey,
maybe she could be a part of your journey too.

You can check out some of what Prue has done for us at her
and also her website
