We have had a long association with 'Mag'

and we are super excited to be supporting

this exciting new venue.

We hope to see lots of our regular Mag shoppers, plus

meet many new ones discovering the amazing

for the first time.

Styling our stall is always fun.

We love to do something different for each market we participate in.

And luckily for us we have won several Best in Show awards!

It is always a thrill to know that our shoppers and our peers at the markets appreciate our styling.

plus we have an enormous amount of fun putting it all together!

The cooler month of July allows us to don our winter woollies, stoke the fire, make the egg nog and have a little festive fun.

Personally I cant wait to have some Plum Pudding.

Luckily Mum makes an extra pudd so we can have it around our birthdays (which also happen to be in July)

Hello 2011!

The new year swished in so quickly and now January is nearly over already!

We have both had lots of family time over the month

and now we are getting ready to head back to school and kinder.

I have to admit I love January.

The beach, the Australian Open tennis, the barbies, daylight saving, mangoes, the local pool, the cicadas, nectarines, the one day cricket, watching the bats glide across the sky at dusk, fish and chips, a good book, smearing Nivea on your skin after a day in the sun.

Aaahh...the is nothing like it!

It's Australia Day today.

And what a country it is.

We LOVE it!

Both Natalie and I have been lucky enough to travel far and wide.

And we can confidently say we do live in the best country in the world and the best city for that matter too.

Yes, call us parochial, we dont mind one bit!

The republican debate always fires up at this time of year too.

As much as I do agree Australia should be a republic, I do love a royal!

I cannot wait for the royal wedding in April too!

(Steve and I will now share our anniversary with Will and Kate!)

We are firing up the bbq tonight with some yummy recipes from

the new Ben O'Donoghue cookbook; At Home With Ben.

The kids will play on the tramp all night and we can sit back and relax with some bubbles and the ipod.

What more could you wish for?

Natalie and I would like to wish everyone a

wonderful Christmas.

We hope you have a lovely day with your family and friends celebrating

with lots of yummy food and bubbles!

This year has just been an amazing journey for us

and we would also like ot thank everyone who was a part of it

in any way.

Whether we met you at one of the markets we did, you purchased our wrappers, you commented on our facebook page, you told your Auntie Nellie about our wrappers, you assisted us in getting media coverage, you stock our wrappers in your store....

anything!

We are so grateful for all the support we have had this year as we

launched our business.

Not only have we had a successful year, but we have also met some amazing people along the way.

It has been a fabulously exciting start to our Cupcake Wrapper Co journey!

There are lots of plans in the works for 2011.

It's going to be very exciting and we can't wait to share it all with you too.

Magnolia Square Adelaide - Wrap Up

Just over a week ago we participated in our

final market for 2010.

The always lovely Magnolia Square in Adelaide

It's hard to believe we have only been doing them since March this year!

We have had a great time developing our own little

pop-up shoppe for every market we do.

As we both love merchandising so much its also a great chance for us

to flex our creative muscle a bit too.

This has paid of as we have now won 2 VM awards at

Magnolia Square

and we always get lots of

ooh's and aah's

when people visit our stall!

It's all great fun!

We also love meeting our customers.

Finding out how they discovered our wrappers.

We love seeing their faces when we tell them are actually reusable!

Their eyes light up like saucers!

So for our last pop-up event for 2010, we packed our bags

and headed to Adelaide for

Magnolia Square.

There were a few little glitches...

Yes, the stall did collapse right as we had completely set it up.

If you know our stall and all the knicky knacks and goodies we have displayed you may understand the

CRASH

the incredible sound that resonated around Norwood Concert Hall!

Luckily there were only minor casualities

and the The Cupcake Wrapper Show did roll on!

My arm and hand are still a lovely shade of bluey-black

as the table slid down my arm.

Eek!

Plus it rained in Adelaide.

What?!

It was meant to be very warm and sunny.

We did not pack umbrella or even a cardy.

Anyway...we soldiered on.

We met so many lovely Adelaidians...

Leanne the Cake Charmer and we will never forget Bonnie,

by far our best customer yet!

It's only 5 weeks until Christmas or something ridiculous like that.

Eek, that means only 4 weeks til school breaks up!

I even booked my Christmas tree delivery the other day.

And soon I will be ordering my turkey & ham at the Camberwell Market.

My stash of Christmas decorations were dragged out from

our 'Aladdins Cave' (under the house)

so we could decorate our market stall yesterday.

It was quite fun to see them all again and think of new ways to use them.

So The Cupcake Wrapper HQ is in full-on Christmas mode!

It's only a few weeks late, but here are some snaps from

Magnolia Square.

Another fabulous market event!

Busy, busy every day and night.

Lots of fab new retailers so we had a bit of splurge!

And heaps of lovely new customers too - Yippee!!

As you may know, we like to make our stalls a little bit different

at each market we do.

Just to keep us looking spunky & fresh

( I dont think I've used that word since year 10!)

So for the Malvern event we went a little francais.

We gathered up our francophile goodies from both our homes

and put them to good use!

Ta-da...here is our Salon de Cupcake

It all looked pretty cute!

We even won the Best Merchandised stall award too!

Bravo!

Props and stuff

Firstly we want to thank everyone for all the

super lovely comments about our Finders Keepers stand.

We were thrilled how it looked and even more thrilled,

if not a little bewildered, by the amount of happy snappers

taking photos of it over the weekend too.

But then we were blown away to see that Lucy from our fave design blog,

The Design Files featured us in her wrap-up

of this amazing event too.

We are just a tad excited!

I did promise earlier this week to let you know about the props

we use in our market stalls.

I'm just going to highlight the most asked about goodies.

Cake Stands

Our beautiful milk glass cake stands are from the Donna Hay General Store.

The pale pink and green milk glass stands come in three sizes.

Ours are small and medium.

They do ship around Australia.

We have another large whie milk glass stand that I found

at the huge second hand emporium in Maling Road, Mont Albert.

As always with these places, it's all about good timing!

Large balloons

You can get these from any balloon place.

They are the extra large balloons and can be blown up to 4feet big!

We only blow them up about half their size!

I think they just look spectacular!

Helps people find us too!

Lamp

This higgedly piggedly old thing came about from one of my treasure hunts at

Camberwell Market one Sunday.

I found the base - hated the shade.

Then driving along Johnson St, Abbotsford one day, a cafe was selling everything and this lamp shade was propped up on the trailer out the front with the for sale sign leaning up against it.

I quickly did a u-ey and offered them $20 for it.

At the time the color was perfect for my bedroom (still is)

but one night while gearing up for a Magnolia Square I had an epiphany

that the lamp was also perfect for our stall.

Our stall needed just an extra little oomph and this was it!

Glass Jars

These are a collection of old ones from Mum and ones I have picked up

from the same wonderland in Maling Road!

Plus there are also a few from op shops around Kew.

Bottles & Stripey Straws

These are old Soda Stream bottles I picked up from an op shop in Fairfield.

$6 for 6

Bargain!

Everyone LOVES the stripey straws!

Yep they do look ace but I do remember as a kid

they went all soggy when you drank from them.

We got these ones from Bake It Pretty.

But in Australia you can get them from plenty of online party stores,

Jar labels

A lot of our stall design has been inspired by Amy Atlas and her candy buffets.

The labels we have created for our glass jars have all been custom made.

We have used Specklefarm swing tags & I have added some custom print stickers with fun little sayings.

The grosgrain ribbon is all from The Works in Hawthorn.

Newsflash!

We will be selling these swing tags at Magnolia Square

and will take orders for the custom stickers.

Wooden Stand
This is a Natalie treasure!

One of her fave places is The Junk Company in the city.

It fits in perfectly with everything on our stall.

Whimsical Treasures

If you've seen our pics, you'll know we love our little pieces of whimsy!

Whether they are deer, bunnies, mushrooms, lambs, tin apples, birdies,

we love them!

All of these are sourced from op shops, etsy and ebay.

Rosettes

Ribbon rosettes from Dear Colleen on etsy.

We have customised them slightly to add the 'hello cupcake'

I made these rosettes from flowers from Diva and some old brooches.

We have some cute black ones too.

Natalie's Home - November Home Beautiful

After 9 months of waiting it has arrived!

No...not another bouncing bambino.

Natalie's gorgeous home was featured in the

November Home Beautiful.

After a chance meeting with Melbourne uber-stylist Wendy Bannister,

the Home Beautiful crew set up shop at Natalie's home on

a hot day in March earlier this year.

As you will read in the article, the original home was featured in

Home Beautiful back in 1948.

The shoot took all day and the results are fabulous!

All the pictures look absolutely stunning!

Our cupcake wrappers even get a mention!

The Wrap Up - Finders Keepers

Phew-wee!

What a weekend!

The Finders Keepers Design Market

was an absolute ripper!

It's going to be hard to sum up this massive experience.

I will start at the start...Friday arvo.

Bump in mid afternoon.

Car loaded.

'Where Is' map printed off.

(My Melways doesnt have these new suburb maps!)

Driving, driving

Mmmm....where is this place?

Eventually the nice lady at the postoffice at Docklands helped us out.

Yep this is the Shed.

And what a Shed it was!

A huge, industrial empty space.

(Not for long I might add)

Hey it's right on the water.

On the dock of the bay!

Beautifully looking over the city right out the front of our stall.

Nice!

Stall all done. Head home.

Mr.Cupcake Wrapper was Daddy Day Care while we bumped in.

Get home to find Miss C (Natalie's daughter) has taken a

big tumble off our trampoline.

Arm broken in three places.

Yowsers.

Natalie spends the next 2 nights in hospital with Miss C.

Oh no!

Glorious Melbourne days on Saturday & Sunday.

We could not have asked for better weather.

Despite the tricky location, the Shed was packed!

We must admit we were a little aprehensive that people

may not find the venue, but they did.

Boy did they ever!

There were people everywhere!

There were dogs, bikes, scooters, wheelechairs, prams.

It was all happening at Shed 4!

And what can I say about the amazingly creative bunch

who had stalls at this wonderful space?

WOW! Springs to mind!

There was so much awesomeness there!

It was quite overwhelming.

We even had customers who came on both days as there was so much to see.

So what did we love most about Finders Keepers?

Meeting SO many peeps - thank you SO much for dropping by!

Finders Keepers Market

in Melbourne this weekend.

This market is a bit of an institution in Sydney

and now its made the road trip down the Hume

and is setting up shop at

Shed 4

Docklands

Saturday 9th October

Sunday 10th October

10am - 5pm

You really need to check out the list of

uber talented creative sparks who will be there!

It really looks quite awesome!

Not only that but there is a cafe, a bar and even music.

What more could you possibly want?

And yes...we are setting up our little

Pop Up Shoppe.

One Day in ....October...oops!

What happened to September?
Where did it go?

So much for my blog post every day.

With school holidays I just could not do it.

Sorry!

Still have lots to share but just didnt have

the time over the last few weeks.

So....here's what we did today

We whisked oursleves off the France for the day!

The Paris to Provence Festival is on at Como House.

What a perfect spring day in Melbourne.

The weather was glorious.

The girls just loved it.

From a few french giggles with Marie Antoinette and a cheeky Gendarme,

to the browine samples they scoffed down!

Our older girls learn French at school and they had just been involved in a

French Festival last term so they loved seeing the

mimes again and practising a few french words.

All the yummy food stalls filled with croissants, pain de chocolat, macarons, crusty baguettes, duck pies, pates, terrines....

Delish!

There are lots of other stalls and kids activities,

but the best fun our kids had was climbing the humungous fig tree.

It looks just like the Magic Faraway Tree!

I know I have already posted about Spring has sprung

but

I couldnt resist sharing more of the beautiful flowers in our garden.

The freesias have finally bloomed and their gorgeous scent

wafts around everywhere.

The old people who we bought this house from many moons ago

planted drifts of freesias and they still flower prolifically each year.

The house is full of vases overloaded with freesias.

The girls have been busy!

The camelia tree I posted about a few weeks ago is actually drooping

with the weight of all the pretty, perfectly symmetrical pink blooms.

The huge hot pink Rhoddy is also in full bloom.

The best it has been for years.

The Verbena tree has cute snow balls of tiny flowers

which smell lovely too.

We still have the roses to go.

These should be ready about Melbourne Cup time.

I love this time of year!

If only the sun would shine little bit more.

One Day in September - Day 17

After a quick phone call from my brother this morning

we headed off to the Heide Museum of Modern Art.

Well we didn't actually visit the Museum,

we had a play in the magnificent gardens & Sculpture Park.

First stop was the new Vue Cafe for a much needed coffee

...and macaron!

The grounds are so lush with all the rain we have had.

Everything is so green.

The divine scent of the all the freesias wafted through the Kitchen Garden.

I love the Sculpture Park.

It's not precious s the kids can clamber all over some of them.

We kicked the soccer ball, climbed trees, spotted cockatoos, watched the bees, checked out the fast flowing river and had a lovely time!

Happy Birthday Liza!

It was a very special day today with Miss Liza having her 5th birthday party.

My girls were super excited to be invited to her party

at the legendary

FairyFields in Fairfield.

There wouldn't be too many little girls in Melbourne that havent been to this

magical place for a party.

It all starts as you meet your special party fairy

who then helps you to climb through

the magic wardrobe, through to the Fairy room.

Throughout the day you visit

One Day in September - Day 15

I'm feeling a little self indulgent today as I tell you

about a special place in my heart.

Bali.

It has been a long cold and wet winter here in Melbourne.

The wettest for 12 years.

The coldest for 11 years.

Something like that anyway.

On the plus side...my garden is looking fantastic!

PS: my freesias are now blooming and smelling sweet too!

Wouldn't you just love to pack your bags and jet off to the tropics?

I have been lucky enough to go over twice this year.

Bali is a place that you become addicted to.

It's all so intoxicating!

The smells as soon as you get off the plane at Denpasar.

The colors all around you.

The people are soooo happy, friendly and generous.

The crazy crazy driving that seems to somehow work.

The noisy motorbikes.

The busy markets with their dodgy bartering.

The food is so amazingly delicious.

The Bintang is so refreshingly cold and thirst quenching.

The rupiah is so bad its so good for us!

Spring racing is nearly here.

This is a pretty big time in Melbourne.

I love having a little flutter on the GG's.

I'm all set with my hat, my pretty frock, comfy shoes, train ticket

and

most importantly the Best Bets!

I have just organised a girls day on Oaks Day with

Natalie and our friend Clare.

I haven't been to Oaks before as I am usually working.

Should be lots of fun!

Trackside food can be pretty average so I think its best to pack a picnic.

To Market. To Market.

We did our first country market today.

The gorgeous Sugar & Spice Market.

What fun!

We were up at the crack of dawn.

Car packed.

Thermos ready.

Sanga's made.

Off we went!

We even did a pit stop at Macca's for a caffine hit!

(And it wasnt too bad either!)

The St.Ambrose Hall in Woodend was just the perfect location.

Ali had the heaters fired up

and

some sweet Ah Tissue paper pom poms fluttering in the birch trees.

At 10am the church hall doors flung open and the crowds arrived!

For a little town, it was very very busy!

We met some wonderful stall holders.

I know I say this every market,

but

One Day in September - Day 11

In my post yesterday I mentioned I love to read and love books.

I really do love to read, but since having kids it is one thing I sadly seem to have little time for.

Gone are the days when I used to read in bed at night for hours.

Now I'm lucky if I even finish one page before I nod off.

Even when we go on holidays I take a few books to read.

All they seem to do is gather sand and suncream stains.

Nope...too busy watching kidlets in the pool.

I do love to immerse myself in a good book.

To be so drawn into it you just cannot put it down.

I must say as I've got older I struggle to find good fiction books.

I just dont seem to have the patience for the drawn out plots

and character familiarisation.

When I do manage to read a book its usually non-fiction.

Life is too short to read bad books I say.

I also mentioned yesterday my love for magazines.

I'm a bit embarrassed to say

I really only look at the pictures!

Sorry to all those journo's out there who spend hours writing the perfect piece.

Give me pretty pictures and I'm happy!

Simple things!

My kids love to read too.

I do think you can never have too many books.

We grab lots of fabulous oldies from the op shops.

We seem to find lots of old Golden Books, Dr,Suess and Scholastic ones.

There is a great stall at the Camberwell Market

that sells a fantastic array of old ones - a bit pricey sometimes though.

Katie & Lou from We Heart Books

have a wonderful website where you can find the most

amazing selection of kids books.

They were also very kind to feature my kids booknook on their blog too.

We have made a snuggily Book Nook for our girls.

Annabel loves to sit there and pretend she's the teacher reading to her class!

As well as our op shop finds, I managed to keep quite a few of my old favorites from when I was a kid too.

The bookcase was in my childhood bedroom too!

We are up to Day 3 of Elisabeth being home from school

with a nasty chest infection.

Poor chicken is getting pretty bored with Mum.

To combat the boredom today

we did a couple of things

The Age Word Target

(we eventually got that elusive 9 letter word!)

I taught her how to play Patience.
We cooked Choccy Fudge Pudding for dessert for tonight.

This choccy Fudge Pudding is pretty legendary in our household.

It's my Mum's receipe and I think it was her Mum's too.

Its full of chocolate and butter and its

oh-so-fudgey!

It's very rich - especially when you have it with double thick cream!

The extra bonus was she even cleaned up afterwards too!

Anyway, it's back to school tomorrow.

Spring has sprung!

I love our garden in Spring.

We were lucky enough to have inherited a garden

from the previous owners who were

Green Thumbs.

That's with a capital G and a capital T.

They planted all sorts of goodies.

Some we have removed due to renovations.

Apple trees, roses and begonias.

Some have died a natural death.

Apricot and nectarine trees.

Boo!

Some have flourished.

Old fashioned, perfumed roses, freesias, rhodendron.

It's only the start of Spring so here is a snapshot of

what has bloomed in the last few weeks.

Our Rhodendron has gone crazy with all the rain we have had.

It is one of the biggest Rhoddy's you will ever see!

It's huge!

The pale pink Camelia's are just divine.

They are perfectly proportioned in the perfect shade of pink.

Oh dear. I've missed a few days.

But wait...
I do have an excuse.
You see I have had my Nurse Jackson hat on.
After one of the coldest & wettest winters in Mebourne for some 12 years
we thought we had all avoided the dreaded winter lurgy.
But no...
it has been waiting to pounce and did last week.

Boo!
We are now inundated with
horrible croupy coughs, chest infections and stuffy, runny noses.

Anyway we are stocked up with veritable pharmacy of lotions & potions to fix us up.
Fingers crossed we will all be better by the end of this week.

Aside from that doom & gloom, there was some fun at our place on Saturday.

We had four giggling girties invade The Cupcake Wrapper HQ!
My girls had their cousins come over for a sleepover!
It was an action packed weekend full of...

If you live in Melbourne, there is no escaping the footy.

Love it or hate it

it is a quintessential part of

Melbourne.

This division of The Cupcake Wrapper HQ is diehard Hawthorn.

Our other division of The Cupcake Wrapper HQ is diehard Geelong.

Ooh there was pain in 2008!

David is still getting over that one.

Steve will never let him forget it - and reminds him often.

Footy is pretty big in our household.
For that matter, sport in general is.
Thanks to Foxtel, Steve can always find cricket on
somewhere in the world on any given night.
Fabulous!
Not!

We do have a few footy rituals around here
1. SEN is glued to our radio dial
2. Before the Bounce - Friday night
3. Before the Game - Saturday night
4. On The Couch - Monday night
As well as various other footy shows over the week.

It's non stop!

Its Footy Fun Day next week at school too.
Scarves, beanies, face paint, hair spray will be out in force!

Grand Final Day we always have a get together with friends.
Usually a BBQ.
Kids kicking the footy, adults yelling the umps, mums gasbagging.
Its all fun!
A couple of traditions we have on GF day too.
1. You need to pick who will kick the first goal
2. Pick the winner and the margin
3. Who will win the Norm Smith medal
4. What was the crowd attendance
No prizes - just bragging rights!

Day 2 and I am already late doing my post.

This is not a good start to a 30 day month of daily posts.

But...I digress...again.

It's Fathers Day on Sunday.

There has been a flurry of activity at school and kinder.

There was a stall at the school that sells lots of 'goodies' for Dad.

Happy with Elisabeth's restrained choice here!

(Think Steve will be happy too - wink, wink)

And fun activities at kinder for kidlets and Dads too.

They had make a marble run together!

It was reported yesterday that we dont spend half as much on

Fathers Day pressies

as they spend on us at

Mothers Day.

To be honest I dont know that Dad's are all that fussed are they?

My husband Steve would be most happy with a sleep in

and

maybe eggs & bacon for breaky.

The girls have made really cute cards for the worlds best Dad too!

I think these are the most special presents of all.

I treasure all of mine they have made for me.

This will be the 1st Fathers Day without my Dad.

It will be a tough one.

We plan on a family afternoon tea on Sunday.

The girls can play with their cousin Esther.

They are all hysterical together!

Lizzy & I will whip up a few yummies.

One Day In September...Day 1

Well here we are at Day 1.

I could have blogged about a number of September things.

The first day of Spring being one of them.

But usually with me it comes down to...

Food!

Cooking and baking are two of my passions.

Hanging out in the kitchen is one of my fave past-times.

I'm pretty happy reading cookbooks or Foodie Mags

and discovering new recipes or techniques.

I was going to bake some shortbread last night.

I have an unwell relative and was baking it to take to them so they

could have a piece with their cuppa in hospital.

Problem was I was exhausted.

I tweeted my predicament.

Several peeps seemed to have the answer.

Repackage!

Buy a packet!

Cello and gingham work wonders!

Dust them with icing sugar & rewrap them!

Mmmm.

Thats sounds like a plan.

Great!

I will settle in and watch those taped eps of Modern Family.

But then I felt guilty.

Do you know what I thought?

"What would Martha say?"

OMG what a complete tragic!

I quite happily make packet mix cakes all the time.

But I could not bring myself to buy shortbread and wrap it up.

Having said that, I should also let you know

my shortbread recipe is pretty good.

Lots of butter and sugar.

Mmmm...yum!

I make this shortbread recipe at least once a week.

It came from one of those recipe books stuck to the front of a magazine.

I just bung it all in the food processor and zshoosh it a few times.

After 12 minutes in a slowish oven...

Voila!

So I got up early and made a batch before we headed out to school.

Here's the recipe.

Makes about 20

2 cups of plain flour

250 grams butter

2/3 cup of castor sugar

2 teaspoons of rice flour

Whizz in food processor until smooth.

Line trays with baking paper.

Preheat oven to 160 degrees cent.

Roll into balls and squish a bit.

Score with a fork if you like the authentic shortbread look.

Cook for about 12 minutes.

Check after this time as cooking time varies based on size of biscuits.

You may need a couple of minutes extra if they are big.

Hope you enjoy these yummy bikkies as much as my family do!

Which is a good thing, as every small business owner

wants more media exposure for their product.

Even better when its free editorial.

Are we everywhere?

Don't think so.

Not yet anyway!

I hate to think we miss somewhere we have been featured.

It's hard to keep track of everything.

We can't buy every magazine we send samples to.

So many people ask us:

How do you get all the exposure?

1. Most of the time we get the email/contact from the inside of the magazine.

2. We send an email with an info sheet & cute images of our

cupcake wrappers.

3. We send them samples and a media kit.

4. We sit & wait with baited breath that we will get featured!

5. We send semi-regular emails when we have a new design or new images.

6. We keep track of online features through Google Alerts.

Recently I went to a Media Workshop run by

Source Bottle & The Woo Marketing.

Some key points to come out of that were:

1. Media people prefer emails, not phone calls.

2. They will keep your info filed away & will call on you when your

product is suitable.

3. Your press release should be short, sharp & succinct.

4. Try to add press release/images into the body of the email.

The less attachments the better

Done and Dusted...Magnolia Square

Phew!

What just happened last week?

It was the whirlwind that is

Magnolia Square, Malvern.

We set up our pop-up shop on Wednesday arvo.

It rained.

Oh dear we thought.

But Thursday morning came along.

It was freezing, but there was sun...yes...sun!

The clock ticked over 9.45am and we were just putting the icing on the cakes.

(Ha! Pun definitely intended!)

There was big bustling crowd waiting at the doors aleady.

Those prams were almost revving their engines as

Metka got ready to open the Town Hall doors!

Mmmm..this is a good sign.

For the next 3 days it was crazy!

It was non stop customers.

It was fantastic!

What we learned from Magnolia Square

Probably 85% of our customers had already heard about our cupcake wrappers.

Nearly everyone had seen them in Donna Hay Kids magazine or Frankie.

We had a different best seller on each day.

Overall our best seller was our Pink Paris cupcake wrapper.

We will probably look at adding vintage cupcake toppers to our range.

You need to wear comfy shoes when you are standing all day.

We will be talking about "reusable cupcake wrappers" in our sleep for months!

We found a sneaky secret car park and didnt get a ticket..snigger!

Avoid taking a pram to Magnolia Square. A baby carrier is much better.

We drank a lot of coffee.

Ed Dixon' cupcakes & sausage rolls are delicious.

We ate too many lollies - bananas, raspberries and fruit sticks

AND

There are SO many talented & creative people there who had a stall

and

they were mainly women doing an amazing job running their business.

We are very proud to be in such esteemed company.

We are super sooper excited to be launching into

Peter Alexander stores next month!

Yep - all over Australia

and finally...

hellooo New Zealand!

We have loved Peter longtime!

I remember the very first pair of Peter Alexander PJ's I got.

I think they were actually the ones that went

bananas for him and his empire began!

They were flannelette and had breakfast yummies all over them.

Eggs, cups of tea, toast, jam - all in a very retro print.

Now my girls beg me to take them into the Peter Alexander stores just so they can check out all the cool things in there.

Have you seen the kids PJ's? Sooo cute!

In fact Miss 8 even declared she wanted to work there!

Magnolia time again.....

Far out it's nearly August

And for us that means one thing.

Magnolia Square at Malvern Town Hall.

We simply cant wait to get to Malvern Town Hall!

As our stall will be placed amongst some retailers who specialise in

childrens products we have decided to change the theme of our stall.

Nat and I will be have a few trial runs this week.

We have been busy fossicking for props and decorations.

We think it will look super cute!

Its always a great time to catch up with some of our great friends we have met through Magnolia Square too.

These girls will all be there with their beautiful wares.

Christmas In July

In the depths of a southern hemisphere winter there is a new

tradition that has emerged recently...

Winter in July

Now it is not really my thing as I am still getting over all the hoo-ha of Christmas decorating that I indulge in for the real thing in December.

I couldn't possibly put my family through it all again twice a year.

In fact I only just took down my 'Joy' Christmas lights that were still hanging on the outdoor deck fence!

Thought they better have a bit of a rest under the house, out of the rain for a few months.

They have to come out again in November,

and thats only 3 months away,

aahh!

So no, I am not one for getting into the Christmas spirit on July 25th.

At this time of year, I'm quite happy sitting in front of the fire with my uggies on, with a quiet glass ( or two) of red, my block of Snack choccy, the footy on, and indulging in the latest Inside Out or Real Living.

But plenty of people are, as I am finding out.

A great friend has an old family tradition of having a big

extended family get together.

They dont see them all at Christmas in December,

so July is their catch up time.

With so many people, it probably makes sense to do this

at a less busy time of year.

Another Daneve from Ah Tissue has just posted some photos from her recent Christmas in July.

All very civilised & lovely - no silly paper hats and lame jokes there.

By the way...I love her tissue pom poms!

I could make some space for some of them in the 10 boxes of Christmas decorations I have under the house...yes at least 10 boxes...eeek!

Independence Day

We have many fans in the USA which is just wonderful as we know

there are heaps of other people making cupcake wrappers too.

The USA celebrate their Independence Day with a little more pizzazz and patriotism than what we celebrate our own Australia Day.

A simple barbie is usually enough for most Aussies.

Although it does seem to be gaining momentum every year.

We thought our USA fans might like our red marching band cupcake wrapper

One of our most important philosophies when we started

The Cupcake Wrapper Co

was to make our product in Australia

and

to use environmentally responsible products in the

production of our cupcake wrappers.

In developing our product we also wanted to ensure our chosen

colors stayed true.

That they didnt get all wishy-washy from the icing or the

butter from the cupcakes.

We wanted our cupcakes to look fabulous.

With our unique design,we think we have achieved this...and more!

Our cupcake wrappers are reusable.

Yes, reusable.

Quite by fluke, we realised that our cupcake wrappers were reusable.

A careful wipe over with a slightly damp cloth will remove any sticky finger marks or scraps of left over icing.

Then simply stack them up, pop them in the cupboard, ready for your next cupcake event.

We have several stacks of wrappers we have used in photo shoots,

and at our markets and they are still looking fabulous after 6 months!

That's even with our 4 little helpers (aged from 4 - 8) handling

them over this time too.

We think that makes our cupcake wrappers pretty cool!
